a) Go to windows ‘Start’ > type cmd
b) RMB on ‘cmd.exe’ > select ‘Run as administrator’
c) In windows explorer Navigate to , (where sldworks.exe is contained)
d) Drag and drop ‘sldworks.exe’ in command prompt and type” /regserver”. Typically the command would look like “C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp 2015\SOLIDWORKS\sldworks.exe” /regserver
e) Press ‘Enter’ > this will register ‘sldworks.exe’
f) Reconfirm behaviour.
An error such as this is a result of a faulty Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 installation. To repair this, please go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs and find the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 listing, and click the Change/Remove button to initialize the repair.
If you prefer to uninstall and reinstall .NET 3.0, you can find its executable in the SolidWorks 2008 media: <SolidWorks 2008 download/DVD>\swwi\data\dotnetfx\dotnetfx3.exe
If the operating system is x64 – please run dotnetfx3_x64.exe under <SolidWorks 2008 download/DVD>\swwi\data\dotnetfx
or please run dotnetfx35.exe under <SolidWorks 2008 download/DVD>\PreReqs\dotNetFx
